為了響應國際兒童癌症認知月活動，大聯盟各球團都動起來，海盜隊最厲害，不但邀請這些小朋友或是病友到場與球星面對面，還讓球員跟教練都把頭剃光，鬍子剃光，支持此項活動。
捕手Chris Stewart剛從傷兵名單出來，剛好趕得上這次活動，他也跟小朋友並肩合影。
Stewart說：「這剛好展現出棒球所關心的，這是很好的例子，對大家來說都是很棒的一天。」
海盜隊邀請當地5家兒童癌症基金會組織餐與活動，邀請25位兒童到場觀戰。
